All men are created equal and that they have certain unalienable rights like life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. This is what the Declaration of Independence said when the United States was founded free of British control. But they did not live up to these words. Or rather with all men they only meant white males. African Americans, Native Americans, and women were not included in this al men category.
